Commentary
Commentary In situ, in the middle of the kerkis VII (central).
Throne (legs in the shape of feline paws), adorned with reliefs: on the back, two satyrs; on each side, a winged figure (Eros) and a rooster; under the seat, two men fighting two griffins; under this relief, the inscription, doubtless later than the throne (which can be dated between the 4th and the 1st c. BCE: see Maass 1972, p. 60-76; Miller favours the mid-4th c., from a wooden prototype that went back to ca. 450-425).
