Epigram in which Hierophantis states having initiated the emperor Hadrian to the Eleusinian Mysteries (probably during his archonship in Athens in 112/3 CE, perhaps before). Since the benefactions toward Athens of the latter are recalled in the past tense, this text was composed quite late during the reign of Hadrian (most probably after his stay in Athens in 124/5), perhaps even after his death. This inscription possibly accompagnied a statue, or maybe rather a depicting of Hierophantis crowning the empereur (Clinton, I.Eleusis).
