Commentary 7 fragments of two very large bases (A-B), probably erected within the sanctuary, near the paved way leading to the Telesterion. This double monument could commemorate the victory of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus over Parthians and Medes in 165/6 CE, and in particular the help given by the deities of Eleusis to the two co-emperors. The statues once erected on these bases would be those of the former rather than of the latter (Clinton, I.Eleusis).
