Commentary	In the Hellenistic and Imperial periods, the city of Cnidus was located at the tip of the peninsula, at Tekir. According to a hypothesis, the city of Cnidus was only founded at this location in the 4th c. BCE. La cité de Cnide se trouvait aux époques hellénistique et impériale à l'extrémité de la péninsule, sur le site de Tekir. D'après une hypothèse, la ville de Cnide n'a été fondée à cet endroit qu'au IVe siècle av. n.è.

Commentary

The inscription was found in a building located north-east of the Corinthian temple, and that was originally wrongfully interpreted as the gymnasium.
It is the base of a speaking statue of Hermes, bearing a list of the prostatai of Neapolis (which is a settlement in the territory of Cnidus or the city of Cnidus itself, if we accept the hypothesis that it was relocated in the 4th c. BCE).
L'inscription a été trouvée dans un bâtiment situé au nord-est du temple corinthien, à l'origine interprété à tort comme le gymnase.
Il s'agit de la base d'une statue parlante d'Hermès, qui porte une liste des prostatai de Neapolis (un site du territoire de Cnide ou la ville de Cnide elle-même, si l'on accepte l'hypothèse de son déplacement au IVe siècle).
