| Commentary |
Purchased on the antique market in Istanbul by L. Robert, who justifies (1978) its provenance from Byzantion. Stele with relief depicting Dionysos pouring from a large krater near a burning altar, and holding a thyrsos; between the altar and the legs of the god, a panther; to the left of the altar, a worshipper. Inscription above (l. 1-3) and below (l. 4-10) the relief. Acquis sur le marché des antiquités à Istanbul par L. Robert qui en démontre (1978) la provenance, Byzance. Stèle avec relief représentant Dionysos versant le contenu d’un grand cratère près d'un autel sur lequel brûle un feu et tenant un thyrse; entre l'autel et les jambes du dieu, une panthère; à gauche de l'autel, un adorant. Inscription au-dessus (l. 1-3) et au-dessous (l. 4-10) du relief. |
