Since Schlaifer (1943), studies have mostly paid attention on the League of Athena Pallenis as the framework of the cult of the goddess (Stanton, Some Attic Inscriptions (1984), p. 292-298; Parker 1996; March 2008). On the onomastic attribute itself, used as a divine epithet as well as a toponym, see Schlaifer (1943), p. 39, note 7. On the location of the sanctuary of the goddess, see Goette (1998).
