The Nabataean ʿmrw corresponds to the Greek Αμερος. This name is attested both in Palmyrene and in the pre-Islamic Arabic inscriptions in the shape of ʿmr. The presence of the vowel ε in the Greek transliteration indicates the Arabic active participle ʿāmir, or better, the Nabataean Aramaic active participle /ʿāmer/ "the one who is living, dwelling".
Le nabatéen ʿmrw correspond au grec Αμερος. Ce nom est attesté à la fois en Palmyrène et dans les inscriptions arabes préislamiques sous la forme de ʿmr. La présence de la voyelle ε dans la translittération grecque indique le participe actif arabe ʿāmir, ou mieux, le participe actif araméen nabatéen /ʿāmer/ "celui qui vit, qui habite". |
