| Commentary |
The agoranomos received a testimony from the council and the people for his integrity, benevolence and liberality. He therefore thanks the civic god, who is Melqart, the Baal of Tyre, in his Greek form. Another Greek inscription from Tyre associates "Lord Heracles" with Leukothea and a diviner (cf. I.Mus. Beyrouth 310).
L'agoranome a reçu un témoignage du conseil et du peuple pour son intégrité, sa bienvaillance et sa libéralité. Il remercie donc le dieu civique, qui n'est autre que Melqart, le Baal de Tyr, dans sa forme grecque. Une autre inscription grecque de Tyr associe le "seigneur Héraclès" à Leucothéa et un devin (cf. I.Mus. Beyrouth 310). |
