Commentary The term katagomenos can be applied to the gods and would be well suited to infernal gods since it is the one used for a descent into the Underworld. But here, this sense is doubtful and it designates the gods who descend to Petra, a well-suited term if we remember that the region of Udhruh dominates the massif where the Nabataean capital is nestled.
Le terme de katagomenos peut s'appliquer aux dieux et conviendrait bien à des dieux infernaux puisque c'est celui que l'on emploie pour une descente aux Enfers. Mais ici, ce sens est douteux et il désigne les dieux qui descendent vers Pétra, terme bien adapté si l'on se souvient que la région d'Udhruh domine le massif où se niche la capitale nabatéenne.
