It is possible that Azizos is another personal name, which became a deity name; the Greek inscriptions found near Emesa frequently contain the name Azizos as a personal name. Moreover this is the name of a ruler of Emesa. He is also quoted in couple with Monimos, a sort of twin gods, maybe paredroi of the solar god. Azizos may also derive from the Semitic ʿzz, "strong", "powerful". Il est possible qu'Azizos soit un autre nom personnel, devenu un nom de divinité ; les inscriptions grecques trouvées près d’Emèse contiennent fréquemment le nom Azizos comme nom personnel. C'est d’ailleurs c’le nom d’un dirigeant de la cité. Il est également cité en couple avec Monimos, des sortes de dieux jumeaux, peut-être parèdres du dieu solaire. Azizos peut aussi dériver du sémitique ʿzz, signifiant "fort", "puissant". |
