Commentary The consuls recall Sylla's law (lex locationis) under which some lands were exempted from taxes, "for the protection of the sacred sanctuaries of the immortal gods" (l. 20-21: θεῶν ἀθανάτων ἱερῶν τεμενῶν φυλακῆς ἕνεκεν).
