Commentary |
This is probably Sextus Iulius Maoir Antoninus Pythodoros, attested between Cyzicus and Nysa. In Nysa, he was involved in the erection of statues for members of the imperial family, thanks to the legacy of his mother Iulia Antonia Eurydike. He was probably a priest of Kore in the city, while in Epidaurus, Pausanias mentions a senator named Antoninus, identified as Pythodoros, who restored several buildings, including the portico of King Cotys (II, 27, 6-7). Cf. A.-V. Pont, Grand notables (2012), p. 294-298, with the previous bibliography and the sources.
Cf. A.-V.
